Diabetes affects 1 in 3 adults. It is the leading cause of heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and nerve disease. Many cases of Type 2 diabetes can be avoided if discovered and treated early. This is known as pre-diabetes, which is seen in about 79 million American adults. Pre-diabetes is, in most cases, is a reversible condition where blood glucose levels are higher than normal. People with pre-diabetes are likely to develop Type 2 diabetes within 10 years, unless preventative action is taken, and that is where the YMCA of Greater Whittier can help.

In addition, you will receive 4 free months of access to the YMCA.
The cost of this program is covered by most major insurance plans but check with your health insurance provider or human resources department to be sure it is a covered benefit. Scholarships are also available on a case by case basis where insurance is not an option.
